Jim Smolik is a shareholder in the certified public accounting firm of Powell, Ebert & Smolik, P.C. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. He joined KPMG Peat Marwick's Corpus Christi office in 1974, was admitted to the partership in 1982 and transferred to their Austin offices in 1984. He left Peat Marwick to form Powell, Ebert & Smolik, P.C. in 1992.

Jim has extensive experience in the taxation of individuals, corporations, partnerships and fiduciaries. He performs planning and tax compliance for a variety of clients including: business owners, investors and managers with Austin businesses.

Jim is active in numerous professional and charitable organizations, and has served on the boards of the Rotary Club of Austin, the Austin Catholic Diocese Finance Board and Caritas of Austin. He and his wife, Debbie, have four daughters.
