Danny Powell is a shareholder in the certified public accounting firm of Powell, Ebert & Smolik, P.C. An Austin native, he received a Bachelor of the Arts degree with honors in accounting from Texas Lutheran University and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin. He joined the tax department of KPMG Peat Marwick's Dallas office in 1979, transferred to Austin as a manager in 1982 and was admitted to the partnership in 1987. He left KPMG Peat Marwick to form Powell, Ebert & Smolik, P.C. in 1992.

Danny has extensive experience in the taxation of individuals, corporations, partnerships and fiduciaries. He assists a variety of investors, closely held businesses and their owners in tax and transactional planning, consulting and compliance.

Danny is active in numerous professional and charitable organizations, presently serving in leadership roles with Austin Symphony Orchestra, St. Martin's Lutheran Church, St. Andrew's Episcopal School, the Knights of the Symphony and others. He and his wife, Jill, have two sons and a daughter.
